Our friend Kenny posted a simple blog It's a fun way to see just how the human eye see's things. I posted a comment, jokingly of course then it dawned on me. My joke is reality for the mass majority of "Ghost Hunters/Researchers" out there.
We scream Accountability and we will scream it again! As a researcher you must be accountable for what you are claiming to be paranormal activity. Just because you might believe in orbs, fairies, trolls and green monkeys in the attic does NOT make it a fact or even close to being the truth. BELIEVING is NOT Truth. It's an OPINION!
The attitude with todays paranormal teams is that they are RIGHT. They will throw out hypocritical statements like "there are no experts", "we seek the truth" and of course the classic "we are skeptics".
Um, skeptics are not idiots. Skeptics think rationally before thinking para-normally. They are Liars... wait, I wont be so harsh. They are not liars. They are simple CLUELESS.
Today's ghost hunters, even the ones on TV are building the mindset and convincing themselves that because of "who" they are... they are RIGHT. They do not want to hear, read or view another source of scrutiny when it comes to evidence. They want people to LIKE them, the last thing on their minds is the truth. They are subtle (maybe ignorant) about the possibility that they alone are wrong. They are EXEMPT from the true skeptics view and throw out the "You had to be there" excuse.
I did NOT have to be there when the "paranormal event" took place. You have it on video, audio and even a photo. Not everyone is/will/should believe that something was ghostly just because a team said so. You are not fucking super hero's and you are not exempt from human nature and mistakes. Just ask Grant with his Jacket Tugging.... If your evidence is on trial you can either ignore it like a wussy or you can defend it. If you are not ready to defend it then TALK about it. Hiding and bouncing around questions and concerns will not gain you any popularity. As a researcher/explorer or just a simple ghost hunter EVERYONE is expected to justify their claims of Paranormal activity. If not, DO NOT put it out there for the world to see. You are not a super hero. You are just like the rest of us. You are in this field for a reason. Is your reason to post bullshit then coward your way out of it the moment someone says "hey, that could be this"? Why the fuck are you in the field again?
Peer review- It's not scary. It's not a bad thing. It's not being "negative" its nothing more than allowing others to view your evidence and offer outside opinions before you make an ass out of yourself and your entire team. Your teams ethics, morals and reputation IS on the line. Unless you are RIGHT and have proven your team to be exempt from the rest of the rational thinking world. You MUST be accountable for what you do. This is what professionals do, I thought you were "professional"? Did you rewrite that definition as well?
The list of accountability factors are longer than the list of "good evidence" that is out there. Teams that stigmatize property values, posting "orbs" as ghosts, whisper crap called EVP and of course, the fly by night new found psychic impressions that teams are giving property owners and scaring the shit out of children are doing NOTHING but going around playing a role. They are NOT researching. They are just playing a game for PERSONAL entertainment. They do not care, they are exempt and are full of nothing but lame excuses to justify why they think they are doing something worthwhile. They are lying to themselves and they are lying to what they like to call clients.
Be accountable. Put it out there for others to see. Don't be afraid of peer review. If someone says "the light source came from that window" they are NOT being MEAN, RUDE or CRUEL. That mean person could have possibly just saved you and your team from looking like a total idiot to the rest of the rationally minded world. Stop being a dumbass and welcome others to offer opinion. Stop using the words "You was not there". The video camera was there, it caught it all now EXPLAIN to the rest of the world why we SHOULD believe you. Can you or will you coward out because you are exempt from mistakes or error?
Dear Paranormal Community- Get OFF your pedestal by yourself, otherwise someone smarter than you with nothing to gain or lose is going to knock you off of it and it's going to start some "drama"....
New definition of drama in the Paranormal Community: Asking questions ='s Drama.(what the hell?)

Yay! Wonderful post, and nicely written.
Read your blog....
BRAVO!!
That is why I am impressed with you guys. You have a no nonsense, cut-the- bullshit approach to the field. I may be wet behind the ears compared to you guys but I have the same attitude(s) and want to see the the field and people in it take a professional approach. And get treated more seriously....the time has come for that.
Lets not have the scammers, the charlatans, the irresponsible, people who are out there just to make a buck, etc... the Chip Coffeys, Ryan Buells, Chris Moons, the Mellens, the Warrens...the type of people who give the field a bad name or reputation. People like that have set the progress in the field and the general public's attitude back many years....just when it appeared (at least to me) that folks were beginning to take paranormal investigators seriously.
Investigators need to start taking a more professional approach. Get rid of the friggin' drama, the egos.... And, as you put it so well, be ACCOUNTABLE for their everything that they do. Just as most of us do at work in the 9 - 5 world they should do in investigations. The time for play should be over!
excellent points, and i've had a big ole paddle in my hand ever since i saw the first episode of Paranormal State -- and an even bigger paddle once i saw "psychic kids".
Don't start no SH....Won't be no IT
