Anyway... the name of the show has not been released but with a little detective work it does not take rocket science (or a badge) to find out what team is soon to become the next para-celeb. The Press release is dated 1/6/2009 if you want to read it, here is the link.

Paranormal Cops? really?
The Pros- This team has had background checks. They have a concept of how to conduct an investigation. They are in law enforcement so we know they are not in this to rob people at least. What better to beat out those pesky plumbers than real life police officers. I would much rather have a cop in my house than a plumber, well unless my toilet is broken.
The Cons- Viewing the Paranormal Cops website found here
http://www.chicagoparanormaldetectives.com/ They seem to have a good background in what they do for a living, but where is the "paranormal" background? It's easy to throw some cops in a haunted location and see what they do, but really. What do they do? The website also suggests that they are TV ready. They also suggest that because they work as police officers/investigators as a career they have no room to make false assumptions
with cases. Is this true? For now it may be, but we all are aware to how TV changes good groups. Those that do not change, well, they get cancelled and their hopes and dreams are shattered. The team is made up of highly trained police officers (we hope they are the hot kind!?) Get to know the cast and crew on their Biography Page a couple of them seem to have a background in TV and production. Oh, and they have a psychic. All creditable teams have a psychic right? (lol) the Paranormal cops psychic has even written a book.So folks, here we go again. I hope they pull out the 357's swear a lot and pop a cap in a ghosties ass & lock'em up, for the sake of TV of course. ( we can only hope)
We will sit back, watch if this show makes it or breaks it. We will watch to see if these ethical police officers become network slaves, quit their dayjobs and sell their souls to make that almighty dollar (for other people) Not bashing this TV show, not one bit. But it seems to be a new thing in 2009 with Paranormal TV. Who can outwit, outsmart and jerk the jacket of the general public. Thanks to the networks, we are all realizing that there are simply a lot of stupid people out there. But, we hope for the best and hope for a watchable TV show that won't make us yell at our television sets anymore. As we sit and watch Paranormal gimmicks become born what can we do? I for one am tired of watching people with limited background and paranormal knowledge jump on TV and claim to be an expert of some type. But, then again there is a good thing. This team is not linked up with any half naked headstone humpers. So, that's good... right? Thanks A&E... we will be watching.
Now, on to Sci-Fi
It seems the Joni Loves Chaci spin off of "Ghost Hunters" is making a come back and with new people. There are of course the oldies but we have a new goodie?
Well, this person is just an odd fit for me. Brandy Green. I wonder why they picked her? And not the ultra slutty bitches that are out there on the internet claiming to be paranormal researchers. Was it because she has a proven track record in her whole 24 years of investigating with "Pigs Eye Entity Research" aka PEER http://www.pigseyeentityresearchers.com/ ?

or is it because she fit a casting call catagory and she can do this?
Yeah, that's her. Don't believe me? Look again. She is an aspiring actress and model and of course she has mad skills on a production set. (that's obvious) but she does have some background in the paranormal. But as TAPS and Pilgrim Films fills the need to produce "eye candy" for the masses... all we can do is sit and wait for her to do the spider walk down a flight of stairs. Think about it dammit.
Oh, a side note. I am really tired of TV dumbing down women and the paranormal field. I will admit, I wish I could do that on a table top.. but shit. I got a little more to offer. Oh, and I am not "jealous" of her getting the GHI gig. When a pigs eye fly's will I ever be on GHI (hey, that should be a t-shirt!)
On to more 2009 TV ?
Um, I won't say much because this has been rumored to be the "bomb diggity" for many years now. I have yet to see it happen. lol This old rag.
Good Ol' George Noory to host TV show.
"Dead Reckoning" to debut Para-Documentary
And the town kind of seems "Okay" with it? Click here to read article
And the newest and latest in Paranormal TV is "PARANORMAL HIGH"... yeah, like HighSchool Musical ! I hope they sing, dance and get adopted one day. Fact: I Don't know if it's a TV show, but it should be, everything else in this stupid world we call the "paranormal field" is a show. Might as well.
If there are anymore, please contact us.
NEW FROM E! Entertainment TV - PARANORMAL CASTING CALL!?
ONCE again. I am sick and tired of networks making women look like total dumb asses in this field. Sure it's "entertainment" but holy shit. $50 says that some melon headed idiots audition for this show and get the can. All I can say is FUCK IT. The paranormal field is a bunch of BULLSHIT now. Oh... and the people that produce the beloved Paranormal State is knee deep in this "project".

What the fuck?
Producers of "Laguna Beach" and "Paranormal State" are casting three hot friends to spend the night in a haunted location as a pilot for E! Networks. There are a few things in life as exciting as experiencing the terror of investigating the paranormal and haunted places. Most who dare take on the spirit world are experienced paranormal warriors, who have prepped, studied and armed themselves for battle with the nether world. Enter the HOT GIRLS armed with the latest in scientific paranormal equipment (and the hottest new shoes.) These cute girls take on the scariest, weirdest, and most bizarre situations with the best intentions to uncover the truth, give peace to the spirit and not to freak out and leave screaming. Their mission a simple one: Investigate and look Fabulous doing it. Each episode the girls will spend the night in a rumored haunted place surviving with only with their wits, energy bars, the latest in paranormal equipment.
So, in closing. I'm still not a fan of Paranormal based TV shows. But, the rumor is some of the "Ghost Divas" are filming a pilot. HAHHAHAHAH Fact, Fiction or does that make you nervous? Hummm?
Fuck it all!

I wish I could do that on a table too!
All I can say is....I'm glad "Lost" is coming back on television, along with a host of regular programming that I can actually enjoy. :)
Christ. Well, at least we know all these terrible shows will keep us busy this year. Great article.
My husband wishes I could do that on a table!
Paranormal TV started out a few years ago and it brought paranormal investigations to the pop culture light. Was that a good thing? I don't think so. No this sudden onslaught of crap is going to continue to make us all look like these morons. Dammit.
Paranormal investigation has gone pop culture and due to that it really has gone from "seeking the truth" to seeking the ratings. I sit and watch the shows and realize they are not documentaries, they are entertainment.
Finding women to be eye candy for the cause of ratings is just stupid. They are plenty of smart women in the field that are far more qualified then some on the TV already. Most don't have agents because they don't aspire to be on the flippin' TV they want to actually do the research and propel the field through fact not fake ass EVP's and shrieking at spiders and icky bugs. On the same thought where is the eye candy for the ladies to tune in for...Hmmmm...
New epis of some paranormal shows that are bunk are hitting the air soon, I will be tuning in to watch re-runs of SurviorMan instead.
Keep up the good work ladies. Great job and LOVE the blog!
I'm sure we will get more not so hot with big "ego's" this year.
I realized about half way through last year that I am embarassed to let people know I do paranormal research. Why? Because of these shows. When the first thing a person says is, "like 'Ghost Hunters?'" and always have the inner fight to either go into a long disertation about how what I do is NOTHING like that show or just simply state, "no, not at all."
Yes, these shows have severely dumbed down the field, and flooded it with idiots who only want to do it to be their face on TV or their name in the paper. I personally feel that the shows have already run their course, but the damage is done. For all I care they could make A&E's programming 24/7 lame paranormal shows or cancel them all, and it wouldn't make a difference either way.
Yikes, this would have been totally depressing had it not had the phrase,"half naked headstone humpers" in it.
If these shows did not misrepresent what's left of the paranormal field, it wouldn't be so bad. No matter how much we attempt to re-educate people, we'll never reach the audience that TV mis-educates.
That one press release mentioned that paranormal TV is a $500-million dollar+ industry. I think that proves that it is all money driven. From the producers down to the so-called investigators who get involved.
I can not imagine trying to make money from this field. It's unstable and far too much of a hustle. One day paranormal TV is going to fold over and the few of us left will be cleaning up the mess for years to come.
I agree with what Becky said, I am becoming increasingly embarrassed to admit that I do this research. Not because the paranormal is half walleyed as it is, but because people automatically think you do what they see on TV. It's become mainstream and misguided.
Hey Ghost Divas!
I'm Scotty from Dead Reckoning.
When I started the concept for this show, there didn't seem to be such a "glut" of new shows in the offing. It started with an interest in history and the paranormal, both, then evolved into the concept you see at our site - www.deadreckoningtv.com
I originally started asking around with people in the television and paranormal fields, wondering if there was room for - what I considered to be - a different sort of show, one that has an intrinsic focus on the history of sites in Minnesota and the plains states. I wanted the show to be efficacious to viewers of such fare as offered on the History Channel, Discovery, etc, and I sought out sites that had significance to the history of this region - Fort Snelling, the Custer Battlefield, the site of the Wounded Knee Massacre, and others.
The show is going to focus around the history of these places with a melding of paranormal research and investigation.
For example, Fort Snelling in St. Paul, MN has stood on a bluff above the Minnesota River for nearly 200 years. The place was a disembarkation point for the "Indian Wars" that took place in southern Minnesota the Dakotas and Wyoming during the middle 19th century. There was a Native American interment camp outside the walls of the fort where, during the winter of 1862, over 300 Native American men, women and children met their deaths due to deprivation, starvation and disease. We also learned that Dred and MArtha Scot (the Dred Scot case, pre-civil war) was a slave who was owned by an officer at the Fort during the 1850s, and he sued for his freedom based on a violation of the Missouri Compromise. His quarters are still standing in the lower deck of the main barracks at the fort.
There is so much rich history to dig into and research, and we present the facts of the fort, followed up by solid research and investigation of the site from a paranormal vantage point, utilizing cutting edge and emerging technology.
We have several locations like this that are the focus of the show, and we have gone into our own production, filming three episodes, but have been asked to stop filming by a producer who is pitching the show to networks. So we are in that highly volatile "pitch stage" where things could go very well, or the entertainment entities will seek to reconstruct what we have built. That is a very real possibility, but we hope to have a strong case to produce the show in the vein that we have already established.
Our fingers are crossed.
The intent is not to create a greater glut in the paranormal television market, but to hopefully augment the existing handful of shows with something that we feel has a broad appeal on a historical, scientific, as well as paranormal aspects.
The backgrounds of our people are diverse - advertising, finance, medical, education - but we all have a keen eye to doing things well and creating something that has some meat on the bones. We deem ourselves as being a "seasoned cadre," (if you will, heh) of credentialed, professional researchers who bring something fresh to the table.
I would relish the opportunity to talk with you further about what we we are striving to create with Dead Reckoning, and I have a great hope that it will bring something to television that is different (despite the fact that paranormal investigation is nothing new), intriguing and interesting, if not fodder for provocative rumblings.
Cheers, and good luck with the new site.

reading about all of these upcoming possibly-even-more-horrendous-than paranormalstate/psychickids shows made me go watch "three sheets" london new years eve special on mojohd.
http://shop.mojohd.com/
(you can still watch on the website, the network went off the air -- hopefully spike or travelchannel will pick up this most enlightening and entertaining show)
Believe me as a skeptic it makes my stomach turn to think that there is another batch of these ridiculous programs coming to cable television. My father told me back in the 70s he believed as humans develop technology, their capacity for original thought would slowly diminish, he called it reverse evolution. However on the few occasions I will sit down and submit myself to one of these journeys into eye rolling. I realize my wise father was wrong our capacity for original thought has decayed much quicker than he originally estimated.
But there are several ways to look at this. Yes! These dumb-ass shows make paranormal research look..... well..... insignificant, yeah that's good insignificant. Then there are the hobbyist investigators bored housewives, amateur psychics, RadioShack managers with lots of gadgets since they have not produced any evidence or know how to gather it their work is.......... insignificant. And here's where it gets tough professional psychics, parapsychologists, alleged medians, and anyone who claims to be serious about paranormal research. Since no indisputable evidence has been found that is nothing that cannot be explained through the human experience or past the boundaries of natural law than their work is....... insignificant. This leaves us with the idea that perhaps these peanut head shows are a reflection of what paranormal research is.... insignificant!
How can it be significant? Realize that the paranormal is between the ears not from spirits or other dimensions. Study the psychology of a haunting if you truly want to find out what is really going on and leave the beliefs and mythologies behind. Of course that is not sexy enough for TV or for majority of the paranormal community either.
A nice guy when you get to know him, BatBoy
I have to admit, the more Skeptics I observe, the more I am convinced that Skepticism, itself, has devolved from the act of "seeking evidentiary answers," to mere cynicism.
From a believers viewpoint I could see where skepticism could on the surface seem cynical. But it is far from it, skeptics are merely asking the paranormal community to produce evidence, quality indisputable evidence not a collection of experiences which I'm sure you know Scotty do not count as evidence. The paranormal community as it stands at this moment will never find any piece of viable evidence. And does not appear to be serious about finding it. But if by some extremely long shot that evidence should ever arrive I will accept it. Asking tough questions is not cynicism. "When the facts change I will change my mind. What will you do sir?" John Maynard
Makes a great omelette, BatBoy
sure, i'll admit it.
after watching shows like ghost hunters 1 and 2, paranormal state, psychic kids, most haunted, etc etc ad nauseam, yes -- i am becoming more and more cynical AND more and more skeptical.
